Catherine's Dreams

We are jewelry designers-my friend Jeannette O'Brien, my cousin Sue Collier and myself. Catherine Vrchota Najmajstr, the great-grandmother of Sue and I, was born in Bohemia and came to the US as a young girl. She was a very talented lady who is loved and talked about to this day in South Dakota, where she homesteaded with her husband. We like to think she dreamed of this day where we can share the bit of talent we inherited from her with a large audience.

Catherine's Wedding

Here is my Great-Grandmother Catherine Vrchota Najmajstr's wedding photo. I don't know for sure but I suspect that she made her dress. Her husband was from Bohemia (Czech Republic) too. He came to the US when he was 15. She (and my other Czech ancestors) are one of the reasons I find so much joy in using Czech glass beads in my jewelry.
