We are jewelry designers-my friend Jeannette O'Brien, my cousin Sue Collier and myself. Catherine Vrchota Najmajstr, the great-grandmother of Sue and I, was born in Bohemia and came to the US as a young girl. She was a very talented lady who is loved and talked about to this day in South Dakota, where she homesteaded with her husband. We like to think she dreamed of this day where we can share the bit of talent we inherited from her with a large audience.

August Art Bead Scene Monthly Challenge
This is one of my submissions for the August challenge for Art Bead Scene. The art that is the inspiration for this month is an old bicycle ad poster. It is very cool and the artist was born in Manistee--just an hour from here! I made this necklace while spending the night in the hospital with a very dear friend of mine. I brought in my beads and worked while she nodded in and out. It was a very special experience for me. I love this necklace. It looks fantastic on. In fact, I am keeping this one for myself. The raku pendant was made locally and the cool art bead were made by local artist Leslie.
Here is a new picture of this delightful necklace--hopefully this shows off more of its charn
