One of the women I am close to had a health scare recently that turned out not to be breast cancer as we feared. I had found these pink ribbon beads a few months ago and made this set out of them. I worked hard to make this set very pretty and feminine, thinking of how a survivor weould feel and how I wanted to let her know of the beauty I saw in her courage. I was afraid yesterday that all this would have too personal a meaning.
We are jewelry designers-my friend Jeannette O'Brien, my cousin Sue Collier and myself. Catherine Vrchota Najmajstr, the great-grandmother of Sue and I, was born in Bohemia and came to the US as a young girl. She was a very talented lady who is loved and talked about to this day in South Dakota, where she homesteaded with her husband. We like to think she dreamed of this day where we can share the bit of talent we inherited from her with a large audience.
